"Detail of Shrinking Trees"
This photograph shows the palm trees lining the walk in the inlet of San Diego Bay near Liberty Station. The rocky peninsula with the palm trees provides interesting balance, but also effectively draws the viewer's attention away from other parts of the picture, which is not so good. But the trees, like in the previous picture, shrink into the background.

"Shrinking Trees with Rocks in Foreground"
When I saw this scene, I thought that the trees, shrinking off into the distance, would add some perspective to the picture. The picture also happens to have a desolate mood, probably due to the greyish colors coating everything and the small waves hopelessly lapping the flat shore.

Portraits

The portraits on Bill Wadman's website (http://www.365portraits.com/index.php?date=1230) are my favorites. They seem to express the diversity of people of the world and are extremely colorful. Although they convey diversity of people, however, I would like them better if they reflected the diversity of emotions. Most of the portraits are apparently snapshots of regular people at work, doing what they do. It would be very interesting to see this photographer try to capture people expressing various emotions: grief, hardship, joy, etc. But the portraits are still amazing because many of them show people who seem to be on a mission. Whether it's a mission to save the world, solve life's great mysteries, or collect the most rifles, I particularly enjoy these portraits of people trying to accomplish something.
